Japanese pop group records OPM classics

Le Velvet Album cover (courtesy of VIVA records)With July being Philippines-Japan Friendship Month,  the Embassy of Japan flew in Japanese boy group Le Velvets to record their own versions of two OPM classics penned by songwriter Willy Cruz.
"Sana'y Wala Nang Wakas" and "Never Ever Say Goodbye" are now part of the self-titled album of the Tokyo-based five-man act which is locally distributed by Viva Records.
The pop-classical vocal ensemble, fashioned in the order of Simon Cowell's El Divo, is currently in Manila to do shows at SM North EDSA, Megamall, and Mall of Asia on July 20, 21, and 22, respectively.
Beautiful language
"The Tagalog language is beautiful," said one of the members through an interpreter during a meeting with the press Monday evening at the Manila Peninsula in Makati City.
The group, whose album includes boasts interpretations of standards like "Unchained Melody," "Moon River" and Fly Me To The Moon," revealed that they were both challenged and delighted learning the Filipino lyrics and recording the songs.
