Putting Lito Lapid in his place

The time has come for one silent senator to return to his place.
He always admitted anyway that he felt he didn't belong to a hall that reverberated with lawyerspeak or legalese. He stepped into the Senate, he said, as someone who was a "representate ng masa," the masa who voted the college dropout action movie star to craft laws for their betterment.
Talk about the senator's accomplishments usually invited a smirk or a quip by people who felt he was unqualified for his job. But little do they know that Lapid is the Senate's fourth most prodigious legislator in terms of bills and resolutions filed. He fathered the now landmark Free Legal Assistance Act of 2010, which assures quality legal service for the poor.
People may avert their eyes or cringe when they see him on TV approaching the Senate podium, but Lapid is no laughing stock in the Senate records. During the 15th Congress, he filed 239 legislative measures and authored the Meat Labeling Act of 2011, Comprehensive Unilateral
