Let’s talk about rape scenes

How do you keep Philippine primetime TV's top-rater consistently in top place?
For ABS-CBN's "Walang Hanggan," it seems like a no-brainer: controversy, buzz and a rape scene involving your young female teen star.
Even Atty. Felipe Gozon, chairman and CEO of the rival network GMA-7, agrees: the show is unstoppable.
Social media, too, noticed the provocative turn in the story, although such plots are about standard for most Pinoy soaps.
But it never grows old, it seems. Especially if you cast a rising young star in role of the "victim" and the "victim" in this case is the Julia Montes, who, only a few summers ago, had been a mainstay in the kiddie show "Goin Bulilit" and the young villainess in "Mara Clara."
'Daring' equals a rape scene?
Indeed, the kid has shown the potential to become a versatile actress. But who would expect that she would turn "versatile" too soon? We were "warned" when the show premiered months back that we would be seeing a different Julia Montes—a
